Sungai Klah Hot Springs is a long-time favourite getaway amongst locals and foreigners alike.
Located just an hour away from Kuala Lumpur,
it makes for a delightful day trip away from the hustle and bustle of city living
straight into the healing waters of its invitingly naturally heated pools.

As such, during weekends, public and school holidays, the place can be packed to the brim with people.  Imagine a postcard-pretty place dotted with hot springs pools, sprawling grassy fields and lovely trees.
Now, imagine the tranquillity being invaded with the joyful shrieks of active children as they splash about the water as their doting parents and legions of relatives look on amidst other carloads and busloads of tourists who all want their share of a good steamy soak.

Sungkai Wildlife Reserve

"This place is one of the efforts done by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks in order to protect the endangered species. Conservation work at this centre focuses on captive breeding programme for the sambar deer and indigenous pheasant species."

Conservation work at this centre focuses on captive breeding programmes for the sambar deer and indigenous pheasant species. This 50ha centre was opened in 1971 to develop and maintain a sustainable genetic breeding pool for each of the rare and endangered species it maintains.
The ultimate aim of this centre is to release breeding stocks of these animals back into their native environments to naturally increase wild population.
The Sungkai centre currently has about 63 heads of sambar deer, 15 heads of Timor deer and 14 heads of mouse-deer. The pheasant species available here include 11 crested and great argus pheasants, 29 mountain and Malaysian peacocks, three green peafowls and 19 crestless and crested firebacks.

Gua Kandu

Gua Kandu is a small limestone outcrop near Kampung Jahang,

Gopeng, and can be spotted easily from the North South Expressway.
It is the 8 th largest cave in Peninsular Malaysia at 1100m long.
Gua Kandu is a multi leveled and multi chambered cave with many unique
formations within it. It is believed that a river used to run through the cave,
but it has since dried up and is now a dry cave.

During the Malayan Emergency, Gua Kandu was used as a hideout by
Chinese Communists.

There are various evidence of it, in the form of cave
carvings and drawings of communist slogans and symbols. Later, the
Japanese army occupied Gua Kandu for some time during the occupation
and it is said that the front of the cave was used as a storage bunker for a
variety of things such as trucks, airplanes, supplies, and troops.

Kandu Cave is best explored by night. Located about a half and hours' jeep ride from Tempurung Cave, the Kandu Cave exploration begins with a short jungle trek up a steep hill to the elevated mouth of the cave. The caving exploration which takes about two hours to complete involves rock scaling and rock sliding.

Gua Tempurung

You will be awed by five gigantic domes with ceilings resembling tempurung (coconut shells) forming the cave, and giving its name Gua Tempurung.   The cave system stretches about 1.5km, and is believed to have sheltered prehistoric communities since 8000 BC.

Crawl, scrabble and even lower yourself into impossible looking crevices as you go deep down to uncover the secrets of the largest limestone cave in Peninsula Malaysia.

An underwater river called Sungai Gua Tempurung runs about 1.6 km through the cave which you can indulge in some spelunking activities. An absolute delightful excursion for the adventurous and those who don’t mind getting their hands dirty as they embark on the thrill of caving.

Choose from several guided tours to suit individual preferences and fitness level.  The short tours provide basic information of the cave and are suitable for those who don't want to get messy and have little time to spare. A walkway and platforms offer the visitors' convenience and safety.
